Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Grant

The Page County Sheriff’s Office has again received funding for the purchase of equipment necessary to complete ICAC investigations.

Department of Criminal Justice

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $50,000.00 in grant funds from the Department Criminal Justice to continue the full-time School Resource Officer at Luray Middle School.  The SRO’s primary sector will be Luray Middle School and will continue to assist with providing security checks at Luray Elementary School since both schools are located on the same campus.  This will be the third year that we have been awarded a $50,000.00 for an SRO at Luray Middle School.  This position has promoted school safety by decreasing barriers between law enforcement, students, staff, and parents.  The goal of the grant is to maintain school safety, order, and disciplinary at Luray Middle School and Luray Elementary School by decreasing criminal and negative behavior on or near Luray Middle School and Luray Elementary School; increasing student volunteer participation with Page County Sheriff’s Office sponsored crime prevention community and to increase the number of crime prevention educational classes/activities within Luray Middle School and Luray Elementary School.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $50,000.00 in grant funds from the Department Criminal Justice to assign a full-time School Resource Officer at Page County Technical School.  The SRO’s primary sector will be Page County Technical School.  This will the first year that we have been awarded a $50,000.00 for an SRO grant at the Page County Technical.  This position has promoted school safety by decreasing barriers between law enforcement, students, staff, and parents.  The goal of the grant is to maintain school safety, order, and disciplinary at Page County Technical School by decreasing criminal and negative behavior on or near Page County Technical School; increasing student volunteer participation with Page County Sheriff’s Office sponsored crime prevention community and to increase the number of crime prevention educational classes/activities within Page County Technical School.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $4,500.00 in grant funds from Virginia Department of Criminal Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to purchase Naloxone and to provide training for Civil Processing, Court, Jail Deputies and to provide training for new deputies within Patrol, Investigations and Crime Prevention to administer Naloxone.  This is the third year that we have received the grant funds.  The program will be for the sheriff’s office to combat the rise in opioid overdose and opioid deaths within Page County, VA.  When the deputies administer the Naloxone, the drug will restore respirations within 2 to 5 minutes and may prevent brain injury or death.  Normally, the Deputies are the first on the scene of opioid overdoses because they are patrolling and are in their community.  The goal of the grant is to decrease the number of opioid overdoses death within Page County by decreasing opioid overdoes by issuing and training deputies on administering Naloxone and by increasing the number of law enforcement officers certified to administer Naloxone.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $50,000.00 in grant funds to purchase 3 Mobile Data Terminals, the Mobile Data Information System, 6 laptops/accessories, and 20 cameras/accessories. The Mobile Data Terminals will be utilized by Page County Sheriff’s Office deputies.  The Mobile Data Terminals will be assigned to patrol deputies.  The Mobile Data Terminals will be utilized to communicate with 911 through data, sign in, run background checks, mapping/GIS and etc.  

Drug Free Coalition Grant

The Page County Sheriff’s Office receives grant funds through the Page Alliance for Community Action (PACA) as a sub-grantee to conduct alcohol compliance checks, tobacco compliance checks, drug interdictions, saturated party patrols, and social media patrols.

PSAP Grants

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $2,000.00 in grant funds from the PSAP Education Program to provide educational/training opportunities to benefit the PSAP and/or supported E-911 and GIS.

VA Department of Emergency Management

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $8,750 in grant fund from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management for Citizen Preparedness (CERT).  The funds will be utilized to provide training and to purchase supplies for training.

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $5,980.00 in grant funds from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to purchase two Alco-Sensors, conduct Alcohol Enforcement to include saturated patrols and checkpoints.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $3,500.00 in grant funds from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles to conduct Occupant Protection Enforcement to include saturated patrols and checkpoints.

Wal-Mart Foundation Grants

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $750.00 in grant funds from Wal-Mart Foundation to assist with crime prevention activities and programs within the community.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office received $250.00 in grant funds from Wal-Mart Foundation to purchase equipment/supplies for the Emergency Communication Center to assist with public safety.
