The Page County Sheriff’s Office recognizes that the proper use of canines and narcotic detector dogs are a valuable law enforcement tool. In other law enforcement agencies canines have proven effective in reducing the risks associated with building searches, in locating missing persons and in the recovery of lost/stolen property and contraband. Canines are also very useful in affecting a lawful arrest, including the apprehension of dangerous persons and protecting an officer or citizen in immediate danger of being injured of killed. In addition, canines provide an effective tool for crowd control and narcotic detector dogs provide a deterrent against narcotic possession and smuggling.
